Transurethral Resection of Bladder Tumor (TURBT)

Transurethral resection of a bladder tumor is a procedure in which the urologist diagnoses or treats a cancerous bladder tumor attached to the bladder wall. TURBT can be used to treat many different bladder disorders.

The urologist inserts a scope through your urethra into your bladder to remove or find any tumor attached to the bladder wall. This is an outpatient procedure and usually requires the patient to be under anesthesia.
